5 Projects We're Excited For This Fall

After a long, scorching summer, fall is a great time to volunteer: cooler temperatures, beautiful colors, and fewer crowds on the trail. This is our final round of projects for the season, but there are 14 great options to choose from! Start daydreaming about your warm layers and take a look at what’s in store:
  1. Head out west. Admire views of three Western Slope mountain ranges as you build a new, multi-use trail near Fruita. Check out Trail Construction @ The Book Cliffs, September 21-22.
  2. Camp one last time with the family. Kids ages 12+ and adults will work on completing an important access trail while youngsters ages 6-11 enjoy fun activities. Check out Family Camping: Trail Construction @ Stagecoach State Park, October 12-13.
  3. Celebrate National Public Lands Day. Work on erosion control and trail construction at the Rio Grande Natural Area, featuring beautiful river views, cliffs, and a rich cultural history of southern Colorado. Check out National Public Lands Day @ Rio Grande Natural Area, September 28-29.
  4. Drop in for a quick, kid-friendly project. Come help remove noxious weeds at the High Line Canal, a unique park that connects 500,000 people to nature! No registration necessary. Check out Flexible Volunteering: Ecosystem Restoration @ High Line Canal in Aurora #3, September 10, 5-7pm.
  5. Continue a season-long project near Castle Rock. Continue building a new 2-mile section of hikers-only trail with scenic overlooks, interesting rock formations, and conifer forest. Check out Trail Construction @ Gateway Mesa Open Space, October 5.
Registration for fall projects opens August 1! See you on the trail.
