IN MEMORY OF STEVE AUSTIN
This page offers up-to-date information on VOC's efforts
to remember and recognize the life and legacy of Steve Austin.

Last Updated: February 2, 2023
Steve Austin passed away in December 2022 at the age of 97. Steve was a well-known and well-loved member of the VOC community, having devoted the past 35 years to serving Colorado's outdoors and the people who care for them.
He first volunteered with VOC in 1987 and quickly became recognized as a natural leader and cherished mentor. Steve received numerous awards over the years including our 1995 Mentor of the Year and 1997 Volunteer of the Year; in 2015, he completed his 300th VOC project and Governor Hickenlooper issued a proclamation to declare November 7, 2015, as Steve Austin Day in his honor.
Steve's generous spirit extended beyond VOC as well. He spent many hours volunteering with the City of Northglenn: Steve tutored elementary school students in math, assisted seniors with tax preparation, served as treasurer for the Citizens' Police Academy Alumni Association, and helped to repair hundreds of bicycles to be donated throughout the community.
Steve will be incredibly missed by all of us at VOC, and his contributions will not be forgotten.
