Groups & Schools

Our hands-on programs are perfect for schools and youth groups looking to learn about, and give back, to Colorado's outdoors.

Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC) offers a variety of opportunities for youth groups of all sizes and ages to get involved in outdoor stewardship:

        • Register for a public volunteer project. We offer 50+ volunteer opportunities throughout the state each year from April - October. Browse our project calendar and use the 'Youth Ages Allowed' filter to find one that's right for your group. Then email Emily Schaefer or call 303-715-1010 ext. 116 to register. Please note that while we work to accommodate groups of any size, there may be some limitations depending on the project scope. Check out our Volunteer FAQ to learn more about VOC projects.
        • Request a Youth SWAT (Stewardship with a Team) project. For Colorado-based youth groups of 20+ people, VOC can often customize an outdoor education and stewardship project based on your group's needs. We coordinate these in partnership with land managers throughout the state and projects can be half-day, full-day, or ongoing opportunities. Please fill out a Youth SWAT request form if you are interested in this option.
        • Set up an ongoing partnership. We believe the best way to inspire the next generation of outdoor stewards is through ongoing involvement during one's developmental years. We're currently halfway through a 3-year program with Lake International Middle School, in which we engage the school's 6th-grade class (now 7th graders!) throughout their middle school career with regular field trips and stewardship activities. If you are interested in exploring an ongoing partnership, please email Taylor Driver or call 303-715-1010 ext. 114 to get started!

We also recommend high school educators and counselors check out our award-winning Cairn Youth Program, open to high school students across the Front Range.
