Celebrating The 2021 Volunteer Season

Thank you for a terrific project season!

Each year, we recognize the volunteers and partners who went above and beyond to care for Colorado's natural resources at our annual Volunteer Awards and Appreciation Night. Below are some of the volunteers we recognized, but know we can't do what we do without every single one of you!

WHAT YOU HELPED ACCOMPLISH

In 2021, we completed our highest number of volunteer projects since 2013 with 103 volunteer projects across 66 places in Colorado. 3,178 volunteers joined us on these projects, contributing 27,705 hours for a total donated labor value of $839,739.

In addition, they:

  • Mitigated 150 acres of invasive weeds
  • Harvested 9,637 pounds of produce
  • Restored 17.5 acres burned by the Elephant Butte and Cameron Peak Fires
  • Planted 1,967 bushes, plants, and trees
  • Closed and revegetated 1 mile of unsustainable social trail
  • Removed 2.5 miles of hazardous fencing to support wildlife migration
  • Constructed and restored 26.14 miles of trails
  • Built or repaired 193 steps
  • Built 5 climbing turns
  • Built or restored 86 erosion control and water drainage structures
  • Built or repaired 4,876 feet of fencing
