This course is exclusively for those interested in leading volunteer crews on VOC projects and is ideal for those with prior trail experience.
VOC Crew Leaders are the backbone of VOC projects. They educate new volunteers, lead crews in putting stewardship project plans into action, convey VOC's mission to the community, and help ensure volunteers have a fun, safe, and rewarding experience! By pursuing a Crew Leader rank with VOC, you will expand our ability to perform high-quality stewardship work throughout Colorado.
In this two-day workshop, you will join a small class of less than 25 people to receive hands-on training in effective crew leadership as well as the construction and maintenance of sustainable trails, including tool use and safety. You will also receive a Crew Leader Manual, a set of quick reference cards, and other materials to take home and refer to on the trail.
Please note this course will feature an online component prior to the workshop in order to maximize efficiency and on-the-ground coursework. The online course is provided in partnership with Colorado Mountain College to make it easier and faster for volunteers, students, and professionals to obtain the skills necessary to effectively care for Colorado's natural resources.
Accommodations are available on Saturday night at the Mt. Evans Outdoor Lab for those who wish to take advantage. Look for more info within two weeks of the training date. Meals are not provided.
Cost: $100 or a discounted rate of $65 to those who have volunteered on 2+ VOC projects in the past year and commit to volunteering as a Crew Leader Trainee on VOC projects in 2020. Contact Dan Williams at 303-715-1010 ext. 117 to sign up at the discounted rate.
If you are unable to make this training or are looking to lead for another organization, you may sign up for any of our other Crew Leadership for Trails Trainings.
