Where You'll Be:
The Prairie Vista Trail is a multi-use trail on the southernmost end of the City of Boulder Open Space & Mountain Parks trail system. Part of a larger stacked loop, the trail travels along hillsides that are home to high-value grass and meadow ecology and is very popular among all trail users.
What You'll Do:
On this Thursday project, you'll join approximately 50 volunteers aged 14+ to improve the Prairie Vista Trail in beautiful Boulder. After a light breakfast provided by our volunteer Crew Chefs, you'll help construct drainage structures and improve the slope of the trail in order to protect the trail against erosion, and re-seed areas where the trail has widened beyond compliance. Lunch will also be provided.
We have another weekday project in Boulder on October 10.
Why It Matters:
The Prairie Vista Trail is very popular, especially on weekends, but regular maintenance has been postponed since the 2013 floods. High visitation and lack of maintenance has resulted in erosion and widening of the trail, which damages the surrounding environment. Your work will be an incredible help to the City of Boulder Open Space & Mountain Parks, giving the Prairie Vista Trail some long-overdue TLC and helping to preserve it for years to come.
