Description

Open to volunteers and employees from any organization, this course is ideal for those who have prior trail project experience. This course also applies to those looking to become a volunteer Crew Leader with VOC.

One well-trained Crew Leader can guide up to ten people on a trail construction or maintenance project, and this two-day training will expand your nonprofit or agency's ability to perform high-quality stewardship work. In a class of less than 25 people, each trainee will receive hands-on training in effective crew leadership as well as the construction and maintenance of sustainable trails, including tool use and safety. You will also receive a Crew Leader Manual, a set of quick reference cards, and other materials to take home and apply directly to stewardship projects.

Thanks to a partnership with Colorado Mountain College, this course will feature an online component prior to the workshop in order to maximize efficiency and on-the-ground coursework, making it easier and faster for volunteers, students, and professionals to obtain the skills necessary to effectively care for Colorado's natural resources.

Campsites are available and meals will not be provided.

Cost: $100 but discounts can be made available in limited quantities to residents of Saguache, Mineral, Rio Grande, Conejos, Costilla, and Alamosa Counties. Please contact Dan Williams or Sally Wier for more information. Please give at least 7 days advance notice if you need to cancel. If you do not cancel within 7 days of the training, you will be charged in full.
