About the Stewardship Site:
Just off I-70 near the border of Clear Creek and Jefferson Counties, countless commuters speed by Floyd Hill every day without stopping to visit. Thanks to Mountain Area Land Trust (MALT) and the Open Space programs of both counties, a significant portion of Floyd Hill will now be open to the public and eventually offer a number of hiking and mountain biking trails that connect to both Clear Creek Canyon and the Peaks to Plains Trail.

About the Volunteer Experience:
Join us for this exciting volunteer opportunity created for women, by women! Exclusively reserved for women and girls ages 12+, volunteers will be led through a variety of trail construction tasks by our fantastic women Crew Leaders and work side-by-side with women from across the state! This is a great opportunity to meet other outdoor-loving women, discover a new recreation area, and play an important role in developing a new trail system near Denver. Breakfast and lunch will be provided, so grab the girls, get outside and give back!

About the Overall Impact:
By breaking ground on a new trail in Floyd Hill Open Space, volunteers will contribute to the development of an expansive trail system that will ultimately provide miles of hiking and mountain biking opportunities for residents and visitors alike, as well as lessen the impact on other, more popular trails in the area. As a women-only project, volunteers will also help contribute to creating a supportive community of women in the outdoors!

Need-to-Know Details:

  • Minors: All girls under 16 must be accompanied by an adult 21 years or older on single-day projects.
  • Parking, Food & Facilities: There will be a 2-3 mile moderate hike from the parking area to the work site and volunteers will have access to open portable toilets called 'groovers'. Our volunteer Crew Chefs will provide a light breakfast and lunch.
  • Cancellation: Our land manager partners rely on VOC volunteers to accomplish critical stewardship needs, and our projects often have wait lists. If you need to cancel, please contact Jamie Burke at 303-715-1010 ext. 116 as soon as possible so we can free your spot for another volunteer and have a full workforce.
