Outdoor Stewardship Institute
VOC's Outdoor Stewardship Institute (OSI) has been the leading source of training
programs that prepare people to be outdoor stewardship leaders since 1986. OSI trains
hundreds of leaders every year, not only to lead VOC volunteers, but also for
government agencies and stewardship organizations across the U.S.
OSI provides high quality outdoor stewardship training to volunteers, land management agencies, and other stewardship organizations in Colorado and around the country. Volunteers and staff from any agency can take advantage of OSI’s low-cost training courses to learn new skills and prepare for leadership roles. OSI works with experts in the field to develop and teach in-depth curriculum covering topics such as:
- Volunteer leadership/crew leading
- Trail design, building, maintenance, and restoration skills
- Ecological restoration
- Volunteer project management
- Working with youth
- CPR/first aid
- MTDC chainsaw training and certification
- Cross cut saw skills training and certification
- Drainage structure maintenance and installation
OSI courses are open to anyone. We can also customize training for specific agency needs. View the OSI training calendar
